I'm hoping to enter into a contest at my school, but I can't decide what to write!
This is a high school contest. I really want to enter in this because, as a senior, it's my last chance. I have several projects right now, but none would qualify as there is a set theme. The theme is beauty. Any and all help is appreciated!
I have a few ideas, but I can't seem to organize any into a storyline.
-physical beauty (as in cliques, unreasonable standards, stuck-up girls, etc) *This seems a bit overdone to me. What do you think?
-nature
-true love, personal sacrifice
-human life in general... different personalities & cultures coming together to form the human race... I'm not sure if I've described this one very well, but I hope you get what I mean.
-beauty having a different meaning for everyone, depending on their personal life experiences... beauty being what one makes of it

Sat, August 22, 2009 - 11:50 PMmaybe just start drawing up a few characters...maybe a little dialogue?....and see if that generates some ideas...
sometimes, I think we find the story after we start to write...you know, just take some of the ideas you expressed above and just start to write, see if something shows..

Beauty itself can be either distructive or saving.
beauty & the beast, is superficial ugliness or wildness disguises inner beauty.
sleeping beauty is both niave beauty & vain beauty mixed.
Find out what message `gets` you. Then use archetypes within that context.
I really don`t know if this helps `you` but it works for me..that type of linear thinking.
